Be Your Own Boss Expo

Be Your Own Boss will be held Wednesday 8 July 2015 at Lecture Theatre 2, Ourimbah Campus

Be Your Own Boss is a free event for people between the ages of 14 to 30, and is a partnership between Wyong Shire Council and the University of Newcastle - Central Coast. Lunch and morning tea will be provided to all attendees.

Inspiring young people to think entrepreneurially and create their own employment opportunities by starting-up or growing their own business, is the focus of this event to be held at the UON Central Coast Campus at Ourimbah.

The list of speakers includes:

  • Justin Herald - Founder of Attitude, with a range of products sold in more than 3,500 stores throughout Australia and overseas;
  • Jo Heighway - 2011 Telstra Small Businesswomen of the Year winner, who started her national online auditing firm, Engage Super Audits, from her then Central Coast lounge room;
  • Tim Silverwood - Co-director of Take 3 and Rechusable, who grew up on the Central Coast, and is now spearheading the international plastic pollution awareness initiative;
  • Ginny Gallegos – Producer and Social Media Sensi, for award winning Central Coast marketing and creative agency, Treehouse Creative and the Pocket Film Academy; and
  • Margaret O’Brien - Sydney based Social Enterprise Advisor for Social Traders. Margaret coaches Sydney based social enterprises and also spent 3 years in Columbia working with youth on leadership development and social entrepreneurship
