Campus Life Awards

The 2015 University of Newcastle Campus Life Awards celebrate the outstanding contribution of individual students and groups of students to enhancing the quality of campus life at the University of Newcastle. Student contributions across all campuses in areas such as iLEAD, UON Volunteers and faculty outreach programs, student media, and facilities such as Watt Space gallery are eligible for consideration.

Following are the recipients of the five Campus Life Awards as well as the Highly Commended certificates.

 

Volunteer of the Year Award

The Volunteer of the Year award recognizes a student who has generously volunteered their time throughout 2015 to improve the student experience for fellow students on campus. These students are enthusiastic, reliable and friendly. 

Winner - Renay Clack

Highly Commended – Andreena Kardamis, Jacqueline Walsh, Nic Roberts.

 

Club of the Year Award

The Club of the Year Award acknowledges a club, society or association that has worked hard to engage a large number of students across the University, has been active across the year, reached out to a broad range of students and operates under sound governance and leadership principles. ​

Winner: Exercise & Sports Science Club (Ourimbah Campus)

Highly Commended – Robogals Newcastle, The University of Newcastle Affordable Wine Appreciation Society (aka The Goonion), Women In Engineering, University of Newcastle Law Students’ Association

 

Club Event of the Year Award

Club Event of the Year recognizes a highly successful and engaging event run by a club or society that was well organized, had a good number of participants and reached different student groups.

There will be two awards for Club Event of the Year – one for a club with under 100 members and one for a club with membership over 100. 

Clubs over 100 members – The University of Newcastle Affordable Wine Appreciation Society (Goondependance Day)

Clubs under 100 members – ESS Sports Championships (Ourimbah Campus)

Highly Commended – Rural Trip (Robogals Newcastle), Parents Weekend (Edwards Hall RMAC)

 

Campus Life Award

The Campus Life Award is given to a student who has shown an outstanding commitment to enhancing the experience of their fellow UON students. These students are the people who get involved, and help others to have a great time at University; they are active in a range of areas within and outside their chosen study area. 

Winner - James Rabbitt

Highly Commended – Elyse Hudson, May Hane, Karen Dimmock (Ourimbah Campus)

 

Yourimbah is very proud of how well ESS Club performed this year! ESS and Karen have shown the high standard to which Ourimbah campus students perform.
