Did you know that on any given night in Australia, 1 in 200 people are homeless and that family violence is the number one reason people present to homeless services?
We were shocked to learn that in Australia many homeless women and women in domestic violence shelters had to face unthinkable indignities during their monthly period. Women in crisis are forced to use newspapers, toilet paper or tissues as makeshift pads.
That is why this month we have teamed up with Share the Dignity, an organisation dedicated to giving back to Australian women and children in need.
The College is now a registered collection point for Share the Dignity’s April #dignitydrive and we are asking the public to visit the College this month and donate a packet of pads or tampons. You will find the donation box located in our main office, The Lodge - click here for directions.
There are currently over 85,000 women that need our help, so help us give dignity to those in need at a time they need it most. The sanitary items collected will go to homeless women and those fleeing domestic violence.
We hope to see you soon,
From Your College Team!
